Finest Color Photo of Bob Holiday as Clark Kent

What a find on eBay! Searching for Bob Holiday memorabilia can be really rewarding. Forgotten for 40 years, suddenly this print ad from Ladies Home Journal (May, 1966) showed up in an auction. Our webmaster Toni Collins grabbed it as fast as she could.
UniRoyal Carpet Ad Featuring Clark Kent

Bob Holiday made a lot of appearances as Superman, and this is one even he forgot.

Applying super detective skills to this picture, we presume it must have been taken during the Philadelphia try-outs for "It's a Bird It's a Plane It's Superman." The woman portraying Lois Lane is Joan Hotchkis who was replaced by Patricia Marand before the show opened in New York.

This ad captures how well Bob Holiday differentiated the roles of Superman and Clark Kent. His slumped shoulders as Clark hide his height, his strength and his courage.

But down in the lower right-hand corner, we see Bob's Superman. What strength! What a contrast! For just a second, we thought it was an Alex Ross drawing!
